Summer Sizzles with Hike Ontario!

Get Outside Day!

July 15, 2016

Ontario Parks will be opening its doors to everyone in the province with FREE day-use admission available to all. There will be no charge for day-use visitation during the celebration. Parks across the province will offer events and activities that encourage people to visit parks and be active. Explore a new park, sample our facilities and services or enjoy a fun event in a great natural setting!

Coleman, in partnership with Hike Ontario, is calling on the support of all Canadians – Canadian media, Canadian officials and Coleman partners to urge the government to declare July 15th as National Get Outside Day, because who wouldn’t want another day to Get Outside?

Bruce Trail AGM

Sept. 16 - Sept. 18

The Bruce Trail Conservancy will be holding its 2016 Annual General Meeting from September 16-18.

Hosted by the Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club, the event will be taking place at the Mono Community Centre.

Hike Haliburton Festival

Sept. 22 - 25, 2016

The 14th annual Hike Haliburton Festival is the largest of its kind in Canada and will take place this year from September 22nd - 25th! There will be over 70 guided hikes for all ages and abilities, featuring arts, culture, food and of course, the great outdoors!

Hike Ontario is pleased again to support this year's event by promoting the festival, as well as providing several hike training courses.

Maitland El Camino (Sept. 24-25, 2016)

In support of the Maitland Trail Association

El Camino Maitland (El Camino de Sinuoso Rio Maitland) is a 49km, 2-day hike along the entire Maitland Trail.  It’s modeled after the somewhat-more-famous El Camino de Santiago de Compostella, the pilgrimage from southern France through the north of Spain to the Atlantic Ocean.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25, 2016. Registration opens May 24th, so don't miss your chance to take part in this great experience.

Hike Ontario Summit 2016

Sept. 30 - Oct. 2

The Hike Ontario Summit takes place in Perth, Ontario from Friday, September 30th to Sunday, October 2nd, 2016

The Rideau Trail Association is the host for this year's Summit. The event will recognize the 200th anniversary of the Perth Military Settlement, and also the 45th anniversary of the Rideau Trail Association!

The schedule includes a pub night in Perth on Friday, the Hike Ontario AGM at the Perth Golf Club on Saturday, followed by various hiking related workshops and an evening dinner. Sunday we will put on a number of hikes in the area, focusing on the Rideau Trail. Events may also include a historical walking tour and canoeing on the Tay River.
