Bayfield River Flats Natural Area

Join the Party!

On Saturday, December 3rd starting at 7 PM at the Ashwood Inn, the purchase of the Bayfield River Flats will be celebrated with good cheer, river music and door prizes. Supporters will have an opportunity to cast ideas for a ‘Masterplan’ for the 4.75 acre river front property. Cash bar.

All of the necessary legal and administrative details are ready and the lawyers for all involved parties have set November 25th as the closing date for the purchase.

As Conrad Kuiper, Chair of the Bayfield River Valley Trail Association remarked; “For a small village to purchase its own 1000 feet of riverbank parkland without any government financial support is a unique achievement, especially in today’s political environment. Over 20% of the population of Bayfield has contributed to make this community project become a reality. This is an event worth celebrating!”

Join a Hiking Club!

Hike Ontario’s 23 affiliated Hiking Clubs & Trail Associations are located all across the province, with over 10,000km of publicly accessible trails.

Our Trail Associations directly manage approximately 3000 kilometers of pedestrian trails which are largely interconnected. Their membership fees pay for the insurance, much of the trail construction and maintenance costs and training for hike leaders. The gift of their activity allows the public to hike for free across Ontario. By joining a Hiking Club or Trail Association, you are also engaged in this magnificent contribution to the quality of our outdoor life in this province.
