Speak UP with Sarah Lord

After the death of my mom at 62 from breast cancer, separation from my husband, childless at almost 40 and surviving an abusive online dating experience it was safe to say I was depressed and content to become a permanent part of the flooring. Instead I decided to get up off the floor, call the mobile crisis line and get out of the house. I joined an Outdoor Enthusiast group and signed up for a trip of a lifetime- a Charity Challenge Trek to Machu Picchu for the Arthritis Society. Forget couch to 5k! Try floor to 5 day trek in the mountains of Peru dedicated to my mom and other special people in my life.

Trailhead North Algoma

April 26th & 27th, 2018

Trailhead North Algoma is a northern Trails Symposium hosted by the Ontario Trails Council in Sault Ste. Marie bringing together a broad range of stakeholders from both public and private sectors including tourism, regional organizations, public health, trails user groups and clubs, universities, colleges, municipalities, and First Nations. Engaged trail advocates and professionals, local and from further afield, will meet in Algoma to discuss topics such as cycling trails, urban trails, winter activities and other common trail topics. The venue for this event is the Water Tower Inn.

The agenda for this one-of-a-kind Northern Ontario event includes training workshops, information sessions, and innovative problem-solving sessions, a range of keynote speakers as well as numerous opportunities for networking including a trade show of product and service providers related to trails in and around Algoma.
