Spring Hike Day

May 5, 2018

A province-wide celebration by Hike Ontario and our member clubs in recognition of our birthday! In 1975, Premier William Davis proclaimed Sunday April 27, 1975 as Ontario Hiking Day. Now named Spring Hike Day, we celebrate it annually on the first Sunday in May.

Spring Hike Day highlights the recreational benefits of hiking and walking in support of the Province's ACTIVE2010 Project and raises awareness of our ongoing campaign entitled "Hike for the Health of It!"

Following a very successful inaugural event last year, the second annual Take a Hike for Headwaters is returning to Mulmur! Taking place on Saturday, June 2, 2018, this outdoor family suitable event provides participants with the choice of three richly rewarding routes along the beautiful and rolling trails of the Dufferin-Hi-land section of the Bruce TrailThe Challenge (approx. 3 hours) designed for the seasoned hiker, The Intermediate (approx. 2 hours) and The Family (approx. 1 hour) – and incorporates sections of spectacular private land opened up for this annual fundraising event.

The goal of Take a Hike for Headwaters is to raise funds to purchase vital medical equipment for Headwaters Health Care Centre, the hospital serving the residents of the Dufferin-Caledon region.
