The Guelph Hiking Trail Club is looking for hike leaders to lead hikes in and around Guelph. A few spots are still available for the Certified Hike Leader course on March 29, 2026.

Chainsaw Course – May 2026
Hike Ontario is pleased to announce that in partnership with the Ganaraska Hiking Trail Association Inc. (GHTA), a one-day chainsaw course for Hike Ontario member clubs and their members is being offered on May 2 and May 3, 2026, at a Midland GHTA club member’s property near Midland, Ontario.
Tentative date for next Navigation course
Hike Ontario is considering offering another session of the one-day Navigation: Map and Compass course. The proposed date is Sunday, April 19, 2026, 9 am-5 pm. Let us know if you are interested in participating.
Become a Certified Hike Leader in two online sessions!

Navigation: Map and Compass – April 26, 2025
Navigation: Map and Compass is an introductory course in map reading and compass-use skills. Participants will learn concepts and practice skills to help them plan and follow a route using a map and compass.

Improve your map reading and compass skills and apply those skills outdoors to understand and use a map and compass in basic navigation.
Certified Hike Leader Training – October 21 and 28
Learn to lead safe and enjoyable hikes on marked trails within 2 kms of EMS support. Proactive and reactive risk management are stressed.
