Frieda Baldwin received the Award of Excellence during the Hike Ontario Annual Summit in London, Ontario, on September 23, 2023.
Frieda is a member of the Hike Ontario Executive Committee and handles the insurance portfolio for Hike Ontario. She is also the President of the Ganaraska Hiking Trail Association Inc., a 500 km trail from Port Hope on Lake Ontario to Glen Huron near Collingwood.
Frieda has always had a love for trails, where she could hike, snowshoe or bike. She loves to share the beauty of our great outdoors with others. She is a Certified Hike Leader and Urban Poling and Snowshoe Instructor. She leads outings for the Midland Ganaraska Hiking Trail club. Some of the outings have participation of “Mood Walks” hikers from a local mental health agency.
For many years, Frieda led the trail movement in Simcoe County as president of a regional trails organization and was very involved with the development of the Trans Canada Trail in Simcoe County. She was also a board member of the Ontario Trails Council and currently still sits on the Midland Trails and Active Transportation Committee.
Frieda lives with her husband Naurice in Midland, ON.
